I need to do the brakes on my 95. I am planning on doing my own cross drilling. Does anyone know how much material I can safley remove and not screw up the brakes. Thanks

Cross Drilling!!

Forget about doing it yourself. And cross drilling is no big deal, it just sounds good.

Save your money and get the best regular brakes you can afford.

E-Bay, the Vetter's friend

If you just gotta have then, there is usually several sets on E-Bay each week for a good price. Mid-America also has them at www.madvet.com. If you don't have a machine shop, don't try it yourself. You will end up buying rotors anyway and will have wasted the time messing up your old ones.

drilling

I manage a prototyping shop, and run cnc machines all day long.
I was under the impression that crossdrilling would help disipate the heat and gasses created during braking. Not to mention lowering the unsprung weight even though it will be a negligablr amount. Is this wrong?

Cross drilling when done right is ok. And for the brakes that means CAST holes. The rotor is a very critical component and takes alot of abuse, especially if you run at the track or push it on the street some. Just taking a blind guess in drilling will cause the rotor to develop stress cracks, you might drill into a vane, etc.

Just buy them!!!!!!

Thanks to everyone that replied to my query. I guess its gonna be just a good set of rotors. Again thanks.
