I guess it would be OK,but it will throw the speedo and mileage off a little!!(P285/40ZR17 "794 revolutions per mile") (P275/40ZR17 "814 revolutions per mile") Why does he want you to put a smaller tire on it??I'd tell him to Jump in the Lake and Drowned!!:thumb

Yea why would he want you to put smaller tires on? Maybe he doesn't have any 285's in stock. I'd hold out for 285's, now if you want 275's in front you could do that.

Hmm, learn something new every day. I was in the process of replying to your post, Junk. I was going to say that changing the width of the tire would not make any difference in the revolutions per mile. I wanted to make sure I was right though, before I put my foot in my mouth, so I decided to do my homework. Turns out that changing the width of the tire does affect the number of revolutions per mile. All this time I thought the 275/40 part of the tire label was done that way for looks, who knew it really was a ratio! The P275/40ZR17 tire is actually 8mm shorter than the P285/40ZR17!

The Tire Rack has a really good article explaining how tires are labeled.

I'll never doubt you again, Junk. :BOW :chuckle

Thanks for all the reply's, how ever I went with them because I was told that they are on back order, the 285 that is.

Last comment I don't race this car so I don't think I will see a difference, I only go about 75 miles per hr..
