The 71 coupe went on a truck headed for Dallas, TX to her new owner. Truck came at 10:30 last night and didn't like the hilly road our house was on so I drove it down the hill for one last time--what a great sound those flowmasters make. I have never pulled a car out of the garage more carefully in my life. Thankfully, all the racket the driver made setting ramps and raising hydraulics accompanied by the din of the flowmasters was 2 blocks from my house so no ****ed off immediate neighbors. Not too sad though as she has been replaced by a pristine, low mileage, 91 red ZR1 for not much more than I sold her for. She was a beautiful car but with the base engine only mildly touched even with the new 5 spd keisler she got last winter her circa '63 chassis/suspension just couldn't keep up with the new toy--with only space for one I have thrown you over for another. Sorry old girl, but love can be fickle, even at my age. Me thinks you are going to a far better place.

wow I haven't been around much I guess. That was a beautiful car and I hope you enjoy your new one just as much!
At least she gets some nice warm weather!!

I've been kinda busy looking for the new toy so haven't been surfing the C3 forums. I had been following your trials and tribulations of ownership. How goes the battle? Picked the new colors yet? Hopefully you finally got enough drive time t-tops off to get you through the winter.

The 1st show I went to last year was Merrimack, NH and as I took in all the incredible cars:

1) I made my father in law take pictures to show my wife that there are in truth people crazier than me about their cars.
2) Drove my car out of the judged area and parked in the corral.
3) Enjoyed the smug feeling of having my feet much closer to the ground than all those nuts maniacly polishing and cleaning parts of their cars that already looked pretty good to me.

My shark was in great condition, that is for a 34 year old car. But now that I have a car that is like new, I can feel my feet slowly lifting off the ground and as I picture next year I see me elbow to elbow with the other maniacs picking small pebbles out of my treads in search of the holy grail of a perfect judging sheet. See you all in Merrimack next spring. As I write this, another part of my brain is already designing the trophy case!!!

Looks like you're enjoying the ZR-1 already.. I always liked them, ever since i first sat in a new one at a dealship.. Good luck with not getting tickets.. :L

Sad to see the 71 go, but i guess, you cant just keep adding on, hu ?

1st choice would have been to keep both. Living only 8 miles from downtown Boston the lots are small so no chance of building a bigger garage. The word from the boss was one or the other best be gone before snow (last Saturday's 1" doesn't count as it was before Halloween) or it would be a long cold winter indeed. As it is, my daily driver will be spending the winter outside. I wonder how much I'd p*** off my neighbors if I put up one of those car tents?

Thanks Larry, me thinks I am finally winning the battle. I just washed her a few days ago and was amazed how dirty she had become with all the rain we had recently. I keep changing the colors. First it was black and green, now I am onto silver and a deep purple with a black and maybe a pinkish stripe. Buy next spring I will no doubt come up with several more color combos!
I am hopping to be topless tomorrow - if not I am going after Todd Gross! (local weather guy for those of you not in this area).
I truly savor every moment I get behind the wheel of this car.
What is the big event in Merrimack NH?

That's my kind of guy!!!:L You can bet we'll be right alongside of you (though, thank heavens, not in the very same class!) doing all that cleaning in hopes of bringing home yet another big trophy!:upthumbs

Elaine is the source of all knowledge regarding New England Corvette Events (and I'm sure many other things as well), but to my recollection the Budwieser bottling plant in Merrimack was the location of the 1st event of this past spring. Thankfully, we won't have to guess as I expect as the snow begins to melt several iterations of the schedule will have been posted by the Diva on the regional forum and plans will be made. Trust in Todd, his will be done!

Congrats on the new King of the Hill :)

Looking at the LT5 alone is worth the price...one of the best looking motors.

Jack

Larry, congrats on the "new" ZR-1, and best of luck with it. I've actually thought of doing the same thing, selling the LT-1 and buying something newer like a ZR-1, LT4, or a C5 vert. I just can't pull the trigger on selling my car! If you don't mind my asking, how did you find it....ZR1 net registry?

Larry

Congrats on the new ZR-1. It's an absolutely beatiful car. I saw it on the ZR-1 net registry and it immediately went to the top of my "buy" list for when I sell my '71 LT-1 (is this some sort of sickness?). Sorry to see that it won't be me driving it, but at least it went to a good home!

Rich

Post a pic of your 71 and your new ride.
Cheers!
Bill.:D

Bullseye Rich. the car looked great on the registry site and I thought even better after i talked to the seller as he is an electrical engineer and an aboslute fanatic about keeping his cars. He sold me his wife's 91 and replaced it with an'05 and kept his '91 ZR1 Black very low mileage. The car is even nicer than he described it.

I wish I could manage my attachements better as I had to make 2 posts to get both thumdnails attached. Oh well, at least it is a anseasonably warm and sunny day for a ride. I see, the thumbnail for the new ride is earlier in this thread on pg 1. Go fugure?
