C1 motor mount bolt hole question

I squeezed some time in today to replace the existing motor mounts on my chassis with unmolested ones. I found as I was trying to put the bolts through the holes on the newer mounts, that a couple of the holes had what looked like a teeny spot weld on the edge of them (not all, just 2 or 3).

I'm wondering if this is normal for the era, to keep the bolts from spinning in the frame? Or were these maybe just not drilled through enough? Gotta love working with 50 year old parts! :D

Regards,

Jim

I'm only guessing, not being able to see the parts in question, but I assume you mean the anomalies are on the brand new NOS mounts. I doubt that they ever spot-welded a motor mount hole edge "to keep the bolts from spinning in the frame"; more likely the parts are stamped out on a press, including the holes, and the "spot weld" is simply a place there the punch didn't go completely through for whatever reason, and the circular plugs were knocked all the way out manually with a blow by a hammer with a sharp end, or a second clean-up press operation, or some such.

Re:

Thanks for your reply, Wayne- That's what's weird, is that they are actually USED mounts, not NOS. I described them as "new" in my original post b/c they're the newer set of the 2 for my car.

I found out yesterday that OEM equipment would have a "D" stamped on the back, so I am going to check them the next chance I get and find out if they're OEM parts or aftermarket.

Regards,

Jim
