C1 Pitman arm to steering box

Just started to install my steering column and I'm noticing that where the pitman arm attaches to the spline on the steering box it looks like the arm should be pressed further onto the shaft than it currently is. See the highlighted oval area below. Thanks for any comments.
PS: As it is now the arm barely engages the steering stops.

If the end of the shaft is at least flush with the inboard side of the nut and the nut has been tightened to the proper torque (100-125 ft-lbs), I wouldn't worry about it; have never seen a C1 pitman arm pulled all the way to the end of the splines - they're tapered.
