A buddy of mine here in Vancouver has a line of a C1 and he's interested but worried about running into more trouble than he can easily handle. It's a 1960 fuelie 327 w. 4 speed which appears mostly complete BUT the windshield frame & glass are missing... as well as a host of interior trim pieces.
So the question is.... should having this frame being missing be a warning sign of rusty supports? I realize most parts are available on the aftermarket but how much trouble and expensive is the windshield frame? I'm guessing this means it's missing the stainless trim as well....
I haven't seen the car yet and I can't imagine this is a terminal problem but my buddy just finished a major resto project and he's not looking for another yet. He wants something he can drive sooner rather than later. Is there anything else I should be specifically looking for other than the obvious? I love C1s but I'm not aware of any specific issues to be cautious of on them.
Apparently the guy had 20+ Vettes at one point but he's sold off most of them in the past couple of years. He plans to keep a couple which have sentimental value. I thought my buddy was pulling my leg until he showed me a picture with 20+ Vettes of assorted years.
