What problems might my painter find in installing GM "Genuine Restoration" bumpers from a major Corvette catalogue supplier? I have heard of fitment problems. How are those remedied (bend this and that)? I suspect they know what they are doing but I am always willing to provide tips at double the usual labour rate.

I had to open up a hole or three in the front mounting brackets with a die grinder to get the fit I wanted for my '66. I also installed the little rubber washers that go between the paint and the bumper. Although not "correct" they supposedly protect the paint and body a bit.

Me too.

Also, the chrome company laid it on so bloody thick that we spent a couple of days getting the lower front rails into the undercar supports. We had to tap out the threads in all the caged nuts and had a miserable time getting the centre bar to fit between the front halves.

Nasty. :mad $CA1,700.00 for front and rear

Doesn't sound encouraging. I'll let you know how things turn out. (I have those rubber body washers as well.)
