I'm in the process of correcting the seat mis-match in my '65 (there are '67 leather headrest seats in there now). I've found a set of '65 seats and new black vinyl covers. I am gathering up the remaining pieces - new seat backs, some hardware - and seat foam. There is quite a price difference on the seat foam (from $200 at Mid-America to $149 at Zip). The question is, is there a noticeable difference between suppliers, and are there recommendations from those who have done this?

My plan is to have a local auto upolstery guy put it all together for me. I'd hate to spend this much $$ on parts and have it come out crappy if I tried it myself. Looking closely at the '65 seats it looks a bit tricky to get these covers on right.

Thanks,
Thom

Thom,
I recently restored my seats and replaced everything, foam and all and installed leather seat covers. They feel wonderful (well as wonderful as 60's era seats can feel). I bought my foam from Paragon and with their 10-15% buyers discount, the foam was around $150 I believe. Not sure how it compares to other vendors, but the foam was nicely formed and felt sturdy.

It was the first time I'd ever restored seats and it was about a full days job for me.

You need to be careful when installing the covers to ensure the backrest and seat bottom "lines" line up correctly.

I hear that there is a video available that can guide you through the installation and make it much easier. Wish I had gone that route, but overall not too terribly difficult if you're somewhat handy and a huge improvement to the interior.

Good luck whatever you choose.

Doug

Thanks Doug. I'll check Paragon. I still think I'm leaning toward having the seats done by an auto upolsterer - depending on how much he charges. When I find out I'll let you know how much you saved by doing it yourself.
Thanks again,
Thom
