C2 Virgin Questions: 1965 with 327/350......

Now that we actually get to see the car and the details, I'll second Tom's motion.

What did the appraiser mean when he noted "bad corrosion" on the frame? And there is something about that buckled trim tag that worries me. Is it just the tag or the crossbar itself?

The appraisal was a hand written one and exact details were sparse. It had a laundry list of about 20 things wrong with the car, 10 or so the seller had fixed after the fact. The sag on the cross member where the tags were is real- I thought that was why there is a clip there to hold the 2 halves together? Anyway, I didn't like the look of it.

Anyway, I'm on the lookout for another one. I'll be SURE to check back with you guys again if I find one. Your input has been much appreciated.

Here's a pic or 2 of what I now own, so it's hard to relate modern technology to what was fun in the mid-60's...

The components of the cross-bar are essential to the structural integrity of the car. The parts are welded together. Pics can mislead (and I may be wrong) but it appears that something "moved" it in the past. Not a good sign.

Good luck with your hunt!

4) Any other thoughts?

Thank guys.

Yup - as I posted over on CF, either the trim tag or the VIN plate has been swapped from another car - may be stolen. The trim tag says the body was built on July 14th and it was Glen Green with a saddle leather interior and Powerglide, and the VIN plate says it came off the line at St. Louis on May 3rd - can't happen. This car has been "messed with" - wouldn't touch it without having law enforcement run the VIN to see if it's stolen.
