Everyone calls C3's "Sharks" but there is no cool general term for the C4.

During a nice spring drive I noticed a falcon sitting on a sign post and I said to myself...

“Self, doesn't the sleek and pointed body of the C4 looks like the falcons?” “Gee, I replied to me, you got something there.”

Well besides mental duality, what do you all think…about calling the C4, Falcons?

PS. I know about the other car called, Falcon; but most youngins don’t have a clue on what it was and who built them.

Before the C3 came out they had a prototype called the Maco Shark. I believe that may be where the shark reference came from.

You're correct. The Mako Shark label was applied to a show car.

Sorry, but while I love birds of prey, the Falcon tag doesn't do it fo me.:w

Call them tweeners. Between the georgeous "SHARKS" and the curveacous C5. By the way, what else can they call a C5 beside a C5? Don't call me prejudice. I had a C4.

...not too crazy about the falcons :ugh

since it looks like an F-14 it should be called the "Tom Cat". i always thought it looked like a Tom Cat because the dual exhaust and the digital dash. i also like how you feel more in control of a C4 due to the tightness of the "Cockpit".

wasn't the C3 called Coke bottle ?

an appropriate name for the C4 It think is pike.

after the predator fish its da** fast and kills everything what comes in its way.

C4 ruler of the highway :D fast and kicks ass

just my interpretation, and I am even allergic to all fish ;LOL

I still think they look like a RX7

Um...can someone get the picture of that foul thing off this board?

A picture of a doo doo on a Vette website is just wrong! :D

Mad-Mic...I'll have to agree with the jet fighter look. But not the F-14. Although I do love the Tom Cats (Gunslingers). I think the C-4s are more like an F-16 (Falcon) at least cockpit wise. Everytime I climb into mine it is like crawling into the F-16 cockpit. Tight but functional. You don't get into to it, you strap it on. Now if it only had a HUD like the F-16. I better quit I'm starting to have flash-backs:W .

EttevroC..i came through your neck of the woods this past Sat. I had the Z in tow. It was late so I didn't get a chance to call you. Anyway, I've got a room at the Super 8 for the weekend of 27 August for the Corvettes at Carlisle. You getting ready? I haven't heard anything from Steve. I do know that he has moved up the road to PA. I'll PM you when it gets close to time.

"Coke bottle" was a term used in discussing the Shark's design as you looked at it from above. Like the Coke bottle, it was narrower in the center and flowing outwards at the front and rear. The same term was used in describing some jet fighters that had a similar shape to the fuselage.

The C4, C5 and now the C6 will probably be always referred to by their generation number. While "Straight Axle" cars, "Mid-Years" and "Sharks" got nicknames early on, I don't think that the more contemporary Vettes will ever see something like that (unless you consider "Big-butt" for C5's :D ;LOL)

What's wrong with "C4"? Short and to the point.

Nuthin, but we don't get to have a cool mascot like the C3 does. ;)

how about giving the nick name fanny or hinny to the C5:upthumbs . Just think, years from now as you read corvette history there was the sharks (C3s), the Falcons (C4s), and the Fannies/Hinnies (C5-6):D .

I like the aeronautical reference; it goes well with the Falcon name too. For those who are gamers…. Falcon C.4

Hi HD... Yes, I like the association with the F16 too.

Yes, I can't wait for Carlisle. I got my new wheels and tires on the car and ready to mount the new badges....:D

Cool. Yep. can't wait either. Since I didn't get to go to CruseFest, this will have to be the fun trip. We need to see if we can get a big group togather and meet at the Resturant (is it the Mountain gate or what?) for breakfast that sat morning and all of us cruze to Carlisle. Hey, did you get a ticket to park on the Fairgrounds? I did.

Talk to you later and see if you can find Twitty. He works over at that construction company Dulawuer (sp).
