C4 active handling shock removal

Bought the wife a 91 C4 one owner all original car with 50,000 miles. I want to replace the 4 shocks. It has the adjustable handling 3 position switch on the console. How do you remove the ride control dampers from the tops of the shocks? Thanks!

Are you talking about the actuators?

If so, there is a "spring clip" which holds them in place. Remove the clip then lift the actuator off the shock.
