C4 upper & lower control arms

Are the upper and lower control arms the same from the 80's to the 96
model. Are the newer one's any better than the older one's?

No and No
The front suspension geometry changed in '88 resulting in different parts.Nearly everything is different and doesn't interchange ; springs/ brakes / shocks included
The late suspension is also 3/4" wider each side which is why the late wheels have a different offset to the early wheels.
Notice the different part #'s for '84 - '87 and '88- '96
