this is a no brainer ...duh
50 more horsepower and ft lbs of torque...no contest...
but......
with a cold air intake and less restrictive exhaust the C4 easily matches those numbers...
so where is the advantage.??
let the flailing begin..:upthumbs

Not looking to flail :D just stopping by for a sec but...since you asked....off the top of my head...

Lower drag coefficient, higher top speed, shorter braking distance, better acceleration, greater lateral G, easier access/egress (getting in and out), greater cargo area, heads up display, active handling, traction control, better gas milage, easier (for the targa) on/off/store roof panel, Onboard Diagnostics accessable on Drivers Information Center (without a scan tool), Tire Pressure Monitoring System, runflat tires, less restrictive intake and exhaust and the acrews that hold the tail light lenses in are way way better.

It's been my experience that a stock '96 LT4 C4 will match the performance of a stock LS1 C5 in most areas. Driving styles will be different however. The C4 likes to be tossed around during an autocross while the C5 seems to reward a smoother driving style. The C5 has more room inside and a better ride on the street for a daily driver. The C5 is easier to get in and out of.

Still the C4 is a great ride and a fun car to drive. Once inside, the C4 feels like sitting in a fighter cockpit. Sometimes I felt like the C5 had too much room.

Drive all you can find and pick the one that 'calls your name'.

and thats not all..if you buy today we will also include nifty wheels with bigger brakes all the better to stop you from your much faster top speed...:w

The C5 also has column lock, bad oil sending units, rocking seats,
window failures, bad gas gauges, no spare tire, and a leaky rear axle.

The C4 looks a lot better.:)

I have to chime in here............
I recently sold my 91 C4 for an '01 C5.
There is not much of a comparison, the C5 Outperforms the C4 on almost everything, especially looks. My '91 was the first year they started rounding up the corners, and that appealed to me as compared to my '90. Both C4's were terrible getting in and out of(I'm 6'3"). Both C4's were very low on HP, I think 275. The C5 is so much Better to get in and out of, it rides like a Caddy compared to the C4's(no matter where the ride control was set). The C5 is just Sexier than a C4. The C5's are getting affordable now, that's why I sold my C4. Granted the C4's I have are TPI's, and not LT1's but I have an LT1 Camaro that will Spank the C4's. Comparing an L98 or an LT1 to an LSX is like Apples to Oranges, I feel the same way about a C4 to a C5.

My first Corvette was a 1989 C4. Loved that car, but then I bought the 2004 C5. Sorry no comparison. More powerful, smoother ride, no rattling, easier ingress/outgress, and no space age digital display to suddenly go dark when you hit a bump. The C5 just looks like power too. Agreed, the C5 is a much sexier car as well. I don't regret the upgrade for a second.

MY 1995 is tighter than a snare drum. I am Mork from Ork.
Nanoo, nanoo,

C5s have column lock, rocking seats, bad gas gauges, bad oil sending
units, and oil changes are a big pain and no spare tire. Thats not better than a C4. C4s also dont have the big butt. C4s look a lot better.

C4s also dont have the big butt.

I like big butts and I cannot lie
You other owners can't deny
That when a ‘vette drives in with a Corsa in its place
And that round thing in your face
You get sprung, wanna pull out your tongue
'Cause you notice that butt was stuffed
Deep in the fiber it's wearing
I'm hooked and I can't stop staring
Oh Chevy, I wanna get wit'cha
And take your picture
The C4 tried to warn me
But with that butt you got shows three hundred and fifty horsies!
Ooh, Rump-o'-smooth-skin
You say you wanna get in my garage?
Well, use me, use me
'Cause you ain't that '89 coupie!
I've seen the L98 drivin'
The hell with just survivin'
LS1's a threat, 'vette,
Got it goin' like a turbojet
I'm tired of C4 cash machines
Sayin' small butts are the thing
Take the average track man and ask him that
She gotta pack much back
So, fellas! (Yeah!) Fellas! (Yeah!)
Has your Corvette got the butt? (Hell yeah!)
Tell 'em to floor it! (Floor it!) Floor it! (Floor it!)
Floor that healthy butt!
C5's got back!

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Fullback, someone posted a link to that video in a thread here awhile back. I'd never heard of it 'til then.

I'm not much into rap but that one is pretty good. :thumb

Thanks for the grin.

I just changed the words a little make it more relevant. Maybe we should make a vid featuring C5s! :D

Guys.....

They are all CORVETTES...and that's all that matters. :eyerole

Both generations were revolutionary. I've always had an eye for the ladies (don't tell my wife ;)). Both C4's and C5's appeal to me, and should to any corvette enthusiast.

I currently am the proud owner of a C4, which I will never get rid of. I am seriously considering, making a move towards a purchase of a C5.

All this talk is great, and i'm happy that owners feel such pride for their cars. Just remember, they are all corvettes!!!!
