Car & Driver just printed a very favorable "first drive" impression of the XLR. In the article, they say they like the solid partition behind the seats that adds rigidity and "prevents the noise that is heard in the C5. Current C5 vert owners; would you like to have a permanent partition behind the "waterfall?"

I only saw a coupe. So I really cant say for sure. I myself would like the divider, my C5 more so then the C4 vert I have is like a suction tunnel on the highway. It seems anything in back of the waterfall will get sucked out in an instant over 60mph. On the other hand it is nice to be able toss stuff back there if im in a hurry. A divider with a pass through door would be the ideal.

It's good the way it is... GM should spend the $ elsewhere!

I find the opening behind the waterfall handy to store small items. Of course, with the top down nothing is going to help much.
Happy motoring with the TOP DOWN.

Wouldn't want a permanent partition. Removable would be nice... Recently bought a removable partition for my C5 vert and it worked out great. It goes in from the trunk and can stay in with the top up or down. Gives me the trunk plus it really did cut down on the noise with the top up. It goes in and out real easily so I can always take it out if needed. I'm surprised GM did not make it an option this time.
