The following information came from Edmunds.com
2005 Chevrolet Corvette Compact Coupe/Hatchback
Available: Winter 2004
Preview
What Edmunds.com Says: If Chevrolet does this car right, it will further solidify the Corvette's reputation as one of America's premier sports cars.
What We Know: Chevrolet has been very tight-lipped about specifics on what will be the sixth-generation Corvette (C6) but there are a few things that we know for sure. It will ride on a platform shared with the Cadillac XLR so there will continue to be both coupe and convertible models. After hearing plenty of criticism regarding the current generation's somewhat unwieldy size and unimpressive interior, the C6 will have slightly smaller proportions all around and higher-quality cabin trim. The styling isn't expected to change drastically but Chevrolet did say that the SS Concept shown at this year's North American International Auto Show contained a few clues to the Corvette's new look. Power will come from yet another small-block V8 in the 400-horsepower range for the standard model while the ultrahigh performance Z06 may get an even bigger boost to position it as a true Viper-fighter.
