I drove to my dealer(Reedman-Toll) in Langhorne, Pa today after my salesperson called about a black C6 now on the floor. I was absolutely shocked to see the condition of the optional polished wheels! You could see burnish or rub marks all over the wheels and they were barely brighter than the stock ones. Has anyone else with the wheel option seen the same thing? TIA.......

Stopped by Courtesy Chev in Phoenix on Sunday . . . they had a red C6 in the showroom . . . which was sold, so couldn't be touched; but also had two (one black and one white) in the mx area awaiting dealer prep. One had polished wheels, the other was stock aluminum. Although both cars were covered with road grime from the trip from BG, the difference between the wheels was striking. Even with the coating of dirt, the polished wheels were bright, shiny, and clean; no burnish marks or other defects. The Vette I've ordered will come with polished wheels . . . so I was very pleased with the appearance of the wheels I saw.

I just saw my 1st showroom c6 this week - with the polished wheel option. About $1200 or so. I would not pay it for what I saw.

froggy, what did you see? Were there rub marks all over the wheels or you just didnt think the upgrade was worth it. TIA..

My car came with the stock wheels, had ordered the polished. The difference when put side by side (when the polished came in to the dealer ) was striking...though a far cry from chrome.

I did not get my face right up to them, I just was not impressed for the extra $$$.

I have never had polished rims, I have had chrome and painted. I think good painted rims are fine & will look good for years with little maintenance. Same with chrome plus with chrome you get the bling factor going. My impression of polished is that they require some/lots of maintenance as there is no hard protective surface finish on them.

If you're willing to do the maintenance then I think they'll always look great & you never have to "refinish" them like painted or chromed. But they are for the owner who is willing and has time to do extra "fussy" maintenance on the car.

Also polished have that retro/classic look which is cool.:)

Agreed, sloppy polish and blotchy clear coat. Way to much money for a poor quality wheel. Plus the inside is left turned and rough which makes it hard to clean. The early C5 had the inside polished on the forged wheels which I would run but the big brakes won't let me mount them. On top of all that the drilled rotors vent the brake dust slurry out onto the wheel after you wash them. Since they are clear coated the cost to polish them over getting the standard gray wheel comes out to $300 a wheel. Unreal. :confused :cry

I saw 6 C-6s today; only one with polished wheels. They looked like they needed another round of polish, but it was a demo car, and a bit dirty.

If the factory clear-coats over their 'polish', I'll not pay for such, but will have an aftermarket shop polish the standard wheels.

Thats EXACTLY how these wheels looked, as if they needed a good buffing. They did not resemble the "polish" that Ive seen in previous years. Ill probably order the "regular" wheels and have them chromed at a shop near the dealer. Thanks!

I'd think about the chrome and search for discussion of this issue on the site.

The best chrome job has a rather short life before chipping begins. My polished Epsilons look quite good with a quick, Mother's, touch up every 8-12 months.
