There are some posts here documenting peoblems with thier new C-6. I guess it was bound to happen. Still sad to see it happen so quickly. My take Make a model. make it right and leave it alone. Seems like evry year they have to "fix" or change something. Same old quality that GM is famous for. I don't think this employee pricing will help much. Just another gimmick.

I've owned my C6 since February. The car is absolutley perfect. No problems at all, including the power top. Recently enjoyed a round trip to Bowling Green and back and the car handled like a dream. I suspect all new cars, regadless of manufacturer will have a few problems here and there. Time will tell my friend. Time will tell. :)

BTW - the employee pricing program excludes Corvettes. Gee I wonder why ;LOL

Hi there,
As a technician for Mazda, as well as Chevrolet, there are many issues with newer product releases and every manufacturers have them.
I, personally, enjoy c6 and have found that the way in which this car was built is superior in every way to c5.
Yes, there have been problems.
My biggest concern, CERTIFY TECHNICIANS TO WORK ON CORVETTE.
That, unfortunately, has not happened since ZR1.
Chevrolet wants to improve Customer satisfaction, DEMAND that technicians who work on your flagship vehicle be certified or they CANNOT work on the vehicle.
Just my .02, sorry for the rant, c4c5

Things like this are bound to happen. They even happen to cars with legendary reliability reputations such as Toyota.

FWIW, as a frequent visitor to Japan, I see this. The Japanese carmakers have had the luxury of introducing their models in Japan and therefore working out any bugs before bringing them to our shores.

I have had my issues with GM, too, largely centered on dealer independence, which, GM has to control more if they truly will improve customer satisfaction. I saw the technician 'issue' in 1985. Seems it has been 'about time' to fix this for decades! I hear, from dealers, how hard it is to find any workers who have the aptitude and motivation to properly fix these highly technical cars (aren't they all, anymore?). Gee, qualiy costs, doesn't it, whether people or things. GM, in this regard, is no different than any other car company. I saw poor service at Acura and BMW.

I am glad to read that at least one C6 owner is totally problem free. I know Chevy really tried to get it right, out of the gate.
:w

So far, my MY Coupe is trouble free since I bought it last Nov. Took a trip from Atlanta to Bowling Green to have a friend take delivery of his VR Vert. Trouble free and 26 mpg. And that included two stints of stop and go in Atlanta and Nashville. based on that, I really think it will get the 28 mpg that GM says it is capable of. Now mind you, I check the serpintine belt often as mine is within the VIN numbers that may have a crank pulley bolt problem, but nothing so far at 2700+ miles.

My stepson was a Toyota tech and most of his work was on recalls which a few years back seemed to be a recall of V6s to replace the heads. That seemed to be kind of major to me. :pat

My C6 is at 7,500 miles, and I'm in the middle of a 6,000 mile trek. No problems so far, although I'm scared to death of a crank bolt disaster when I'm in the boonies...:cry

C6 Problems

I'm just going by what I read here. Like the guy with the top problem. The forum has many of these problem posts.

I agree 100%+ It is frustrating to have a Chevrolet dealer mechanic work on my C5 and not have the work done correctly (or cleanly).

I have 9150 miles on my c6 and the only problem I've had was with the radio, which G.M. replaced under warranty--NO QUESTIONS ASKED!!!

Up to VIN 13,000 and change.

Koroba,

The last 6 digits of the VIN is the production sequence number. 000001 is the first car built etc...

Each of the 17 spaces on the VIN has a specific definition. The 7th from the right for example is the plant the vehicle was produce at and the 8th is the year of the vehicle ( 1980 is A etc... 2000 is Y and then they started again on the numbers)

Hope this helps

This is a short thread. You will have to visit CF and search for the whole deal. Long story short, well over a hundred C6s have a loosened crank pulley, or actually have lost the pulley, belts and pieces on the front of the engine. GM is doing their hear no, see no and speak no routine, as only they can do it.

You may get a warning of a noisy belt - or you may not. You may get a DIC message - or you may not. The car is immediately undriveable, and it will be down for a week waiting for a part (a lock washer) and getting repaired. Pray to God it happens near a dealer if it happens.

GM has not recalled the vehicles in the range, nor have they authorized a pre-emptive fix for those who ask for it. The dealer's response is to call for a tow truck if it happens.

This was the last straw for me and my GM loyalty.

Aren't you glad you asked.:cry

Going to Bloomington Gold?

I'll be at Bloomington Gold on Saturday. Most likely will hook up with 74BB and GM Junkie.
