In Car and Driver they said prices were to remain unchanged, that one sliped past the dealers. To pay 50k for one of these when next year prices fall to where they need to be would be a mistake.

Thanks for the info- most folks are entertaining the idea of a C6, but have only heard about the 55k$ prices..

You folks are so lucky being US citizens and living in USA. A brand new C6 sells for US$150K in Istanbul Turkey...

Market value of my 10 year old Corvette in the picture is between US$35 - 40K... Believe it or not !!!

Unfortunately these cars are at Bill Heard Chevrolet or Vista Chevrolet. Both are owned by Bill Heard. I went to have a look and was given the third degree and a very ridiculous trade in value for my 2000 FRC. Had to threaten to call the police to get my keys back after telling them I would rather pay cash than $1400 a month for 84 months. A very hard pressure dealership. I won't be back.

Crash,

It's hard to believe that there are car dealers like this still in business. Those tactics went out many years ago. Horror stories like this is the reason that a basic distrust of car dealers still exists today. Buying a new car should be a pleasant experience and some of the more progressive dealers understand that. How about giving me Bill Heard's phone number and the name of the salesperson you dealt with. It would be my plasure to make his life miserable.

Never in Ohio

Problem with an Ohio dealer is that the stupid state requires the vehicle to be titled in Ohio even though it is an out of state purchase. Plain ass stupid and no one in their right mind would buy from Ohio unless they lived there.

LOL

you obviously are the stupid one cause that is not a fact.you need to check more before saying something you do not know about. you title the car where you live. I know this because we do it everyday.

Sorry bud but you need to read what I said first .. not what the moron you quoted said.

I have already done battle with the Registar over this issue and they INSIST that I must title the vehicle first in Ohio and then retitle it in my home state ... stupid I agree.

Seems the selling dealer will not just give me the MSO like a normal dealer would. They claim it is against GM policy ... more BS I suspect since I already have two other Vettes ... none from Ohio though.

Where I live the original title application MUST be done in person. So how would you handle that from Ohio ... I am in Alaska?

I agree with you ... amazing what some folks come up with when they assume things. I'm not a Finance Manager at an OHIO dealer but I have purchased allot of cars and this has been a royal pain in the ...

Not to matter tho ... this is the last vehicle I will ever purchase from an Ohio dealer .... you folks should look into this. Us out of state buyers are giving you free money.

i will gladly help you and tell you how to do it if you would like to call me this afternoon. yes the title is made into an ohio title then sent to your alskan register to be made into a title in alaska. it isnt hard just the dealer u are using is making it that way sorry that some dealers make things hard on customers. but i will help if you like

does not that make it like a used car, second title not the orignal so the value of the car would drop if you sell it later?

no the owner is still the first owner and it does not become used because the ohio title is put int the owners name with no tax paid then switched to an alaskan title in the same name. in other words it is titled in the name of the one that bought car so it is still theirs alone

Now now... The stupid remarks are not needed. This is a good thread with a number of good points... let's keep it clean.

OK and thank you. I have it done now but what a pain.

There is no legitimate reason to title this in OHIO; however, it is the law and not made up like the finance director said. So, what I originally said it actually the way it is.

It is an uncessary and unreasonable burden on the dealers and it is a simple issue to collect $$.
NO thanks OHIO .... you dealers need to complain.

Another valuable point is that the state of OHIO is perhaps the only state in the nation that ALSO requires your SSN to title a vehicle ... even out of state. I am suprised they don't want a DNA samle too ...

What is the justification for this I wonder? I asked for the law and they can't seem to find it but they won't give you a title without it or a reason they need it .... what else can I say!

Forgive my ignorance, but why would the value of the car drop in value if it was owned once or twice or three times??

If the car is lic. as "new" (I am assuming it's a transfer of state, not ownership) from my experience. Sales tax is paid where the car is registered new. Back in the 60's I purchased a new 69 Firebird 400 in Nebraska, paid the sales tax and lic. I was station at Kingspoint, RI and when I went to lic it there, they calculated the tax from Nebraska, and I ended up paying the difference between Nebraska and RI, it was a transfer of title from one state to another :confused.

Even if it is considered a transfer of "ownership" how does that effect the value of the car??

Sometimes I can't see the tree because the forest gets in the way ;)

Thanks
Bud
