Does anyone know the resistance value of the resistor in a CAGS bypass kit?

Mine was a bit too close to the exhaust and died. I took it apart and dug out the resistor and checked it and it returns a value of 23.7 ohms which I think is incorrect.

I am going to visit Radio Shack and buy a resistor of the proper value and just rebuild my unit.

Thanks!

ok so I had a few questions about bypassing the 1st to 4th feature. What is the easiest way to bypass it WITHOUT changing your driving habits. I want a mod. Which is easiest to install? Which if any void the warranty and will create a problem if I had to bring the car into the dealer for service? If I install it and then take it out will the dealer know? Where is the best place to buy the product from? All help is greatly appreciated.

If you have access to a lift, this take 2 minutes. Will not void the warranty AFAIK. YOU can just take it off whenever you like.

And if I dont have access to a lift? Also what is AFAIK?

Free CAGS eliminator

Got this from another site. If you can't get under the car it's a quick way to diable that nasty feature.

Update (pasted post)Pulling the #10 fuse does remove power from the skip shift solenoid. But it will also cause DTC P0713 to be set. The MIL will not illuminate, but the code will be stored in memory and will show up on a scan. This code will show up as a trouble code during an emissions check, and cause the car to fail. (The code can be cleared by reinstalling the fuse and starting the car 40 times, yes 40 times, or it can be cleared immediately with a diagnostic tool.)

So basically, the only advantage of the CAGs eliminator plugs is that they won't cause a P0713 code, so you won't need to clear the code in order to pass an emissions check.

Or buy an Innova OBD11 scanner. $70 at Walmart. You can erase the code in 10 seconds

I don't think I'm going to try this one, too many unforseens

I installed the cags eliminator and love it! I bought long ramps at wal mart to get the rear in the air. Takes a whole 5 mins to install, have had no problems.

It took me two minutes. I then used a zip tie to keep it away from The exhaust pipe. That is very interesting about having it removed with a tune.

It took me two minutes.I then used a zip tie to keep it away from exhaust heat. I like the idea of removing it via a tune better.

Here are some pics of the skip-shift eliminator (part is from Ecklers Corvette) installation.

The first pic shows the stock CAGS connector on the transmission. The connection is above the casting rung ... it is actually tagged by the factory with a label "skip shift".

Simply unplug it and seal off the transmission connection with the cover supplied by Ecklers, then plug the other part of the Ecklers kit (the dongle) onto the cars wiring harness. I tied it off to the casting rung. The second pic shows this.

Took about 5 minutes to put the car up on ramps ... 3 more minutes to install ... 2 minutes to take off the ramps .... 10 minutes total.

I had my check engine light come on for CAGS. DEALER REPLACED IT FREE OF CHARGE,as they installed it when I purchased the vehicle. Only 4550 miles on it and about 11 months old. Strange!!!
