A couple of NCRS members put out a call for owners of the 116 1994 Copper Metallic Corvettes in the member's publication, "Driveline". They are putting together a registry for that year and color car. As most of you know, the color was only sprayed for three days of the car's production and only 24 convertibles and 92 coupes were made in that 66U code paint. I responded and they asked if I would help enlist other owners to post here if they own or know of the whereabouts of these cars. Many thanks!

I saw two of them for sale on the "Roger's Corvette Center" web site, no more than a couple of months ago.

Thank you JJS. Know both of them, in fact I bought one of them, the coupe.

Awesome. I only noticed them because I had never seen that color before. They were both beautiful.

Tell, me, is there any room for negotiation on Roger's pricing?

Z_OH_6,
Your ’94 is BEAUTIFUL! :beer I really like that color, I have been hard pressed to find Copper Metallic recently. Glad you mentioned that the 66U was used back on the ’86. I wasn’t aware that they were the same color. I did see one of the ’86 Corvettes Coppers once. It was at a Corvette specialty dealer in Springfield, OH. The dealer was Mershons. They had it in the showroom, wasn’t there very long.

I think the year before last, The National Corvette Museums (NCM) Copper vert with the grey interior/white top was displayed at Bob McDormans annual Corvette show. The combo was very, very nice. I’m pretty sure that it was an automatic. I unfortunately didn’t get a picture of it, it had the NCM logo in the center of the hood.

McDorman has two of the Copper cars in his personal collection, a coupe and hardtop convertible. The coupe has a black interior, has 996 miles on the odo. The hardtop vert has the beige interior, I think the mileage on that one is in the single digits. The Copper vert that is currently on sale at Rogers was originally owned by the owner of Buds Chevrolet, in St. Marys Ohio. Buds owner sold off part of his collection, Mr. McDorman picked-up several of the cars in his purchase -- one of them was the Copper vert. McDorman sold it to Rogers in Florida, Its configuration is one of three produced.

My apologies, I'm not trying to hijack this thread... B17crew, could you please email me? I tried to PM you, but your PM's are turned off. Thanks! keldq@aol.com

Hi B17Crew!
Thank you for the compliment and the inforamtion. I tried to buy the convertible at Roger's but was a little late as it was being held for an earlier buyer. So I bought the coupe instead. It has 15,000 miles on it. What made the convertible so rare was the 6 speed tranny - one of only 3. I haven't seen an 86 yet in Copper, talk about rare, like hen's teeth I guess. LOL!! Thanks again!

The paint was called Dark Bronze before it became Copper Metallic

MyOtherCar,
Thanks for the heads up on the Dark Bronze, another rare C4 eye catching color. The ’86 I saw was under showroom lights, looked as if it had just been polished. Only saw it once years ago... with four ever produced, my odds of seeing another one are not looking to good. :cry

You're correct that Dark Bronze Metallic was a code 66 color for 1985 Corvettes. The 66 code was used again in 1986 for the Copper Metallic but, of course, the colors were separately distinct from one another. I believe there were 1,030 Dark Bronze Metallic cars that year, the least sold color.

Dont mean to steal thread but mentioning the 86 in similar color...was the 86 one seen the "russet metallic"? Wonder if its the same color as the cooper or different.
I've been wondering for years what happened to the 12
84 Vettes in 86 colors that were produced for the GM Managers Color Show! Copy below of the TSB...

I've got a CM Coupe with 16,000 miles on it and am interested in joining the registry. I live in the Cleveland, Ohio area. What needs to be done to join?

1994 Copper Metallic Convertible #1370

I just purchased a 1994 CM Convertible this week with VIN ending in 1370. Does anyone have info as to when these cars were built and sequence numbers for them?
