I decided to start a new thread so as to not poach on other threads with my problem, thanks for all the great advice so far from those that replied, (warrenS, & Mad-mic), and my apologies to those on whose threads i jumped in.:cry
Just got my 96 LT-1, auto trans, back from the dealer (second time ), 56K miles had the following done;
- Replaced intake Manifold gaskets & seals for oil leak, & replaced vacuum valve
- Oil change
- New fuel filter
- Cooling system service; Drain, Power Flush & Refill
- Spark Plugs changed, (AC Delco #25166821) (Wires were good), Timing not checked......( they said it doesnt need it ??)
- Transmisson flush, filter and fluid replaced.
- And................. Since they were there I had them install a MR. Gasket 160 degree thermostat.
I may be paranoid, but it seems that after the work I had done, the car just did not have what it had B4 I took it in, and it should have ran better, since my plugs definetly were bad and i had them replaced, plus put in a 160 Stat to run cooler. It felt like it was slow off the line, and was not consistent when i punched it anywhere along 25-40 , sometimes it would get full power & passing gear, sometimes it wouldn't, i could sometimes trick it to kick down by shifting out of O/D into drive manually at the same time as I punch it.
If i start out from a stop, it is weak coming off the line, then wakes up to its full potential of acceleration, if I manually shift to Low and start from a stop(Auto trans) and punch it........ OMFG !!
From a roll to about 37 ish if i punch it, the car jumps as intended. Above 40 it is weak, then finally picks up hard at 55-60. Again, punch it at 55-60 it screams, but punch it at 75 ish, and its accelerates lazy.
All of this inconsistent performance was non-existant before all my maintenance.
I am wondering if any of this is related to the transmission, cause if i use it manually it really goes!! Is there some kind of transmission kickdown that got out of whack?? Dealer sez no clue
ad :confused
