camming a LS1

If you cam a LS1 how much hp are you going to net, without doing anything else other then the programming for the cam? Thanks

could be from 350 rwhp to 450 rwhp depending on cam. i've seen FBody's dyno over 450 rwhp with cam only + bolt on's. most are in the high 300's low 400 rwhp range.

Well I am talking just a cam by itself, my buddy says that if he cams an LS1 he can net 50 hp, any truth to that with just a cam??

Well I know that my buddy is making 400 rwhp in his firehawk. He's done a cam, headers, and computer tuning.

You are looking at somewhere around 30HP give or take a bit. To actualize the better breathing that a cam will give, it is best to do heads (if you are going aggresive on the cam) and headers, as well as an intake at the same time. I just did an LS6 Intake and a mild cam on my T/A. You can see my other mods and my dyno info.

why do you wanna do cam only with no bolt on's?

30 rwhp with a cam only and a dyno tune is WEAK for an LS1. for that kind of HP i'd add some juice first and call it a day a good dyno tune alone will net 30 rwhp.

thats my car club and guys there are running high 10's on cam only bolt on Fbody's. this is the largest 4th gen car club in the world and they are serious racers and know their stuff about LSx motors.

granted this is the biggest cam you can go with with out fly cutting the pistons because of valve to piston clearance and isn't good for a DD but makes SERIOUS horsepower!

i seen dyno charts on bolt on only cars with this cam making 450 rwhp!
