My engine 1980 L82 has about 12000 miles on it since the previous owner rebuilt it. The heads are lightly ported and it has roller rockers. She runs great and the pipes sound good. PROBLEM, when he did the rebuild he put a stock L82 cam in .I would really like to hear that awsome loping sound. Now it just sound stock. What is a good sounding cam that will not radically change the way it performs now?I know this seems stupid to you all but I love that sound. Thanks a bunch,Ron.

I think a lot of people use the Comp Cams XE268. You can always contact them and get a recommendation.

BTW: My L82 currently sounds very lopy at idle. This happened after I recurved the distributor. The guy who helped me was very impressed. But I have no way of knowing whether it's stock or not (but I think it is...)

The stock L82 cam has a very nice lope to it. It is the same cam that was used in the 350ci/350hp engines.

Start by reading Lars Timing Paper at www.corvettefaq.com

A big problem with the late-model L82's is that they are severly detuned for smog purposes. There's a lot you can do (depending on where you live)...
