Can Anyone Identify These Engine Codes?

Okay, now I am totaly confused, an '010 block made in Mexico :confused :confused

One thing, the stamping on the stamp pad (MM15800) is not the stamping that was used on a production line engine. So would have to be an aftermarket engine, maybe a crate engine from targetmaster or some such.

It's a Targetmaster or Goodwrench replacement engine. It shows 3970010, GM, the pattern number, the "casting clock", and the "MM" stamp typical of those engines. GM-Mexico has been casting and machining Chevy V-8's for over 25 years, so it wouldn't surprise me to see the "0010" block from there; over 8 million "0010" blocks were cast domestically from '69-'80, and there were many multiple sets of patterns to create the molds for those castings.

Cool, so what does this all boil down to?

I'm assuming, it's not the original engine. But it is a 350 right?

I have a feeling that this thing was totally gutted at one point by a thief.

Thanks for the great responses!

Ok guys heres one for ya.
I have received a 4-bolt 350 from a friend.
He had no info on the motor.
What I found is this:
Pad Stamp= 08546c
Casting #= 3970010
Additional cast info on rear of block, pass. side= 010-020
Cylinder heads= 3917291 double bump.
Valve size is 2.02 intake and 1.6 exhaust.
(I am not sure these heads came with this particular motor.)
So what do I have here, anyone know???
Thanks,
Jacko

Those heads were used on many different '67-'68 applications in Camaro, Chevelle, Nova, and '68 Corvette.

Re-check the pad stamp - 08546c is not a factory stamp; there should be a 1/4"-high stamp starting with either "V" or "T" followed by four numbers for the date and two or three letters for the engine type code, and a separate stamp in 3/16" numbers with either seven or nine digits that contains the last six digits of the VIN of the car it came out of. If the 08546c is all that's on the pad, it's most likely been rebuilt (and decked) and the stamp is the rebuilder's code.

The block will also have a casting date code on the passenger side, opposite where the casting number is on the driver's side.
