carb question

Hi all,
Recently bought headers off ebay,so now my heat riser will be gone.This
will eliminate my choke on the stock Quadrajet.I can get a barely used edelbrock 1406 600cfm with electronic choke for a real good price.I was wondering if this carb is a bolt on to my stock intake.What about buying something like the edelbrock performer,rpm performer?Also how would I hook up the electronic choke?My motor is completlystock L-48.

just get an electronic choke for your Q-jet. all you have to do is run a wire to "keyed hot" power source. most people usually run it to the ACC power circuit.

This is a standard bore carb, and will not work with the stock intake unless you use an adapter plate. I checked the Edelbrock web site and Summit Racing web site to confirm this. It it a universal carb so you would have to work out the linkage too (which is easier with the Vette since no tranny kick down cable).

You can also buy a kit to provide hot air off the header to your stock carb choke.

Right now I am running mine without the choke (lots of bigger problems to fix first). I turned the choke setting to lean - far enough that the choke blade stays open no matter what. In the warm weather it needs my help to idle for just a couple minutes and then it will run on its own. It may not be the best solution, but would allow you to go ahead with the headers until you resolve the choke situation.

Well thanks for the replies.This gives me some options to work with.Gotta do a little research here.Would be nice to just get a new edelbrock manifold.First I will get a price on the electric choke for the Q-jet.Thanks again.
