I need to have my carburator rebuilt. I don't have the know-how to tackle it myself without screwing the settings up. I wish I could afford a new one but I can't so I'll have to make do with the old one for now. I have a '79 L48 with a Carter Quadrajet carb. Does it use the same rebuild kit as the Rochester M4MC?
I have a mechanic I trust to do the work I just need to get the kit. Does anybody know the proper rebuild kit, where to get it and what the cost is? Is there anything else I should get besides the kit? Unfortunately, my vette is my daily driver so I can't afford down time. I am trying to have everything ready for the mechanic so it can be done in one day - is that reasonable?
Hope everybody has a great holiday.

Look for Cliff Ruggles on the web. I think he is the man when it commes to Q-jets :)

i am amazed that you found someone local to build it.
i called maybe 10 different shops here in san antonio to build mine when the qjet was on my car and the only one that would touch it wanted 500 bucks

Carb rebuild.

Yes Quadrajet by Carter is the same, get the # off the side of the carb, it should be something like 17059203, and go to NAPA and ask for an Echlin rebuild kit and get a Echlin nitro float and a new filter. PG

This guy took care of me very well. The new carb was spot on. Give him a call or drop him an email:

eBay Store - mtnmancarburetorandfuelinjection: ROCHESTER CARBURETOR PARTS, ROCHESTER QUADRAJET CARBURETOR, REBUILD GASKET KIT

Whoever rebuilds it will lose most of the settings due to the disassembly process, so you'll need someone to tune the rebuilt carb on the car.

Yes, it can be done in one day.
