I have an 81vette rochester carb theres a rod missing from what appears to be a front vaccum break to the secondary valves Im no carb guy but what affect does this have on carb operation.I dont know if it fell off or was never there. The rod runs over top of the choke and where can I get one of these. Thanks

That rod holds your secondaries closed when vacuum is high. Helps with gas mileage some on certain cars. If your secondaries are set tight enough you probably won't notice it not being there. I set mine with the secondaries having just enough spring pressure to barely hold them closed then rely on that vacuum canister to hold them shut until the vacuum drops off and I need more fuel. Probably hurts my mileage a little bit, but I get real good throttle response.
