More of the improper (careless) work by Prestige Autobody, in Mission Viejo:

The vapor recovery cannister had the two large hoses reverse connected, per the label on the top of it. One vents fumes from the fuel tank; the other a tee to the solenoid valve and the PCV.

My question is, after consulting the FSM, which shows two cannister top hoses:

My '84 also has a tee from the hose on the cannister bottom; one hose quite short, the other is curved and about 5", neither connected to anything. While I suspect it is a vent, is there supposed to be a tee and if so, to what does is it connected?

Thanks in advance. Mike :w

Ok,
I wanted to be sure because I remember this as a question that I once had when repairing some damage up there....So I looked.

On my 87 the Top 2 hoses each end up on the steel lines. 1 goes to a vac operated diaphram then to steel, the other top goes to a solenoid then to the 2nd steel line.

The BOTTOM...
yes, a single line out, goes to a "T", and each of the 2 ends go nowhere.
beats me.

What I cannot figure out is where all the charcoal dust comes from? That vent line? The can itself is secure.

Strange, that 'under' tee.

I guess now, it's right. I also have a lot of carbon dust; a few granules escaped during handling, too.

Thanks so much. :w
