Hello to you all!! Long time no see. I have been busy for a while, so you haven't hear for me for some time.

I have told you that I am working at a new carbonfiber body for my vette, lighter, stronger, more airodynamic, better cooling, more downforce........inmagine what you could do with your vette when you lose lots..lots...lots of weight......and when your vette has more downforce.......

So......I have:

Doors, hood, rear wing, frontbumper, and some interior stuff......all made out of carbonfiber......and.......not expensive.....

Are here also other corvettelovers who want such bodyparts??? Let me know and replay on this topic.

Thanks,
John

I would only want them if they were exact fit replacements, I dont particularly care for something that looks like a modification (i hate wings, ground effects, etc).

Unfortunately I wont be able to afford them for quite some time, but i would like to know how much weight you think youve shaved off and approx how much it would cost for the hood especially.

I'm always looking for ways to lower the weight of my ride.. but for me I can't really afford expensive carbon fiber body panels..

would be cool though..

Forgot to mention.. a while back I met some guys who do sometype of road racing with their C4's which are basically gutted racecars, and they had made a hood from kevlar I believe they said it weighed like 5 pounds.. but also it was no where near as strong as the stock hood and also was made without headlight placement so it was just a thin molded sheet it was cool.. they even replaced the hatch glass (because it was for racing) with a lexan window that some company makes for the c4 I'm sure that took some weight off as well.

This idea could come from only you Johnny... Only you. :L

Nice to hear from you! :w

Johhny, you're definately on to something there. You'll have to get some pics and some prices together. Also, I think the headlights on your Vette are way cooler than any other kit that's out there.

I agree.. pics/prices.. would be cool I'm interested..

parts and prices

Hello gentlemen!

I started this topic not to find buyers, but possible buyers who also are interested. I think that the price will far far lower than you could inmagine. But the price will go up or down, inorder the number of parts we can produce. The price of one door (without the glass) is almost the same as one hood. A carbonfiber hood would be more expencive as one in polyester. But......and this would be probely the price:

And I say probaly!!! Could higher or lower!!!

door: 1500 US$
hood: 1700 US$
rearwing c5R style: 700 US$
set front lights: 500 US$

carbonfiber wich was made on pressure in the oven!!

I think you'll spark interest with just about every C4 owner. What's your next step Johnny?

Jay

next step?

My next step is installing a LS1 engine, I have bought one but I want to do the body first.

Thanks for the info, but I was already working on this, I get lexan windows in my vette. Handmade.

Johnny,
You never cease to amaze me. Always thinking out there on the edge. Best of luck in your venture. Your car just gets better all the time.

Cool, I was thinking it would be neat to have the rear hatch glass done in lexan.. but have it be functional too with the struts.. You know where I can buy a setup that would just bolt in?
What about the side windows anywhere I can buy those in lexan and have them be usuable like a stock glass replacement?
-Rick

I'd be interested in a lightweight rear glass too. That thing is heavy, and expensive! :eek

windows

Asfar I know, there is a company who made windows like the original one, and not so expencive. I will buy first for my car and see what the actually costs are. Then I will inform you.

Are the doors of a ZR1 not the same as a normal corvette?

I wish I could come for one time to meet you all and show you my vette.

The doors are right where the ZR-1 starts to flare out........setting it apart from the standard C4 body. The little side fenders and hood are the same though.

Jay

I wish they were cheaper.. Melrose is cheaper then Ecklers.. but it would be cool if it was closer to 200$ or something.. then I might seriously look into it..
-Rick

very interesting.....looking for follow up on this.
