I just removed the carpeting and padding from my 65 convert. Is there an easier way to remove the old adhesive?? I tried a wire wheel on a drill motor. I tried wax and grease remover. Thanx

Viet Nam Vett said:Almost finished with my 65 install. I used a Gasket scraper ( Heavy Duty Type) that has a heavy steel type blade which can be sharpened with a file.
But the best thing I used was a Sanding block . It's like a sponge covered completly with and 80 Grit compound. Go to your local Hardwhare store and check out the abraisive isle.
I didn't remove all of the glue ....Just leveled the area so the Underlament would lye flat.

What padding or underlayment are you using? Is the padding necessary? I always thought so but was advised by one of the suppliers that it is not. Please advise.
