I have a 1989 Corvette that I am trying to change the door sill carpeting on. I removed the old carpeting from the plastic sill, but cannot find a glue that will adhere the carpet ro rhe plastic. I have tried rubber cement, hot glue and Elmer's spray adhesive, but none of them held. Any ideas?

Thank you and have a Blessed Day!

I would suggest an industrial contact adhesive such as Ply-o-bond or 3M weather strip adhesive*. Surface preparation is 9/10ths of the job. Remove all the old adhesive from the plastic, and sand it to a matte finish and clean. Apply adhesive to both the plastic and the carpet and allow to dry to a tacky consistency and clamp using weights for 24 hours just to let everything set up solid. Position the carpet carefully as adjustment will be impossible after the tacky surfaces make contact!
* AKA "Gorilla snot", my favorite.
