Charcoal cannister

I am in need of some help. I have an 89 Ragtop with 92 front and rear on it, so the charcoal cannister cannot be located where is should be because of the turn signal light location. Anyway, whoever did the installation just left it floating around in there. I am lucky it didn't bounce up and hit the headlight. Anyway, to top it off, the bottom hoses, coming off a T fitting were also just left there, unhooked. I took some pics of a friends 89 and noticed that one of them runs toward the firewall, and the other runs toward the front of the rad, but I can not find any tubes or other fittings to plug them into. If anyone has a similar conversion and knows the answer to this perplexing problem, I would certainly appreciate a solution. I don't think it is too safe to leave them unplugged, and don't know if it would hurt to just cap off the bottom fitting where the T is. Also, just jostling it around had charcoal coming out, so I am assuming the flow runs "to" the bottom, as opposed to "from" it, or it is damaged. Anyone out there who can shed some light on this, please? TIA

I just thought of something. Maybe I should find out where the cannister is on a 92, and relocate it. Then again, the missing fitting problem needs to be solved first. Well I'm headed to bed because I have to be up at 5:30, so I'll check back tomorrow. Thanks again to anyone who can help.

Been there done that. Freaked out because I thought I had the wrong canister! The bottom hoses go to no where!!! I guess they are the vents for it or something. The new canister I bought had an optional "air" cap on it on the top part. I just thought that served the same function as the hoses on the bottom so I took the cap off. The new one I bought didn't have the connection on the bottom.

yeah the big line coming from the bottom is a vent line, not sure why GM did the T fitting there but thats right. i would put it any where up there so it dose hit anything, if you need to just put longer vac lines to fit your needs. when i messed with mine that bottom line was clogged with something and i changed all the hoses, just do them like plug wires, remove one at a time so not to forget which way they go. if you smell fuel some time while driving, that can be a sign the cannister is full.

do you like the way yours looks with the newer C4 bumpers? i really like how they look and i am thinking real hard doing it to mine, bumpers are alot cheaper then a newer vette!! hope who ever did a nice job, got any bigger picture to send?

Hey, many thanks guys, and whew!, what a relief too. I wonder if it makes a difference if it's standing up or laying down. Stupid thing looks like a Sanka can (it's blue), w/out the orange writing...lol...the only way I can stand it up is if I move my horn, which ain't no big thing, so that's what I'll do.
Tigmaned, when I started lookin for my third Vette, I only searched for that body style because I like it much better, and I couldn't afford the later years that were that style. So I kinda lucked out when I found one already converted, with only 43k on the clock and a nice set of $1500 wheels on it. The only pic I have is the one you see by my name. So I'd say do it if you like them better, as I do and thanks again to you and Jiangtao.

P.S. I had an 85 Coupe before this one and always wanted the later style as soon as they came out, especially the ZR1's. Before that I had a 66 Ragtop that was the same color scheme as this one (talk about a coincedence, huh?)
