The check engine light on my 82 came on. The guy I bought it from suggested that I change the oxygen sensor. I change it and sure enough the light went off. Drove it for about 10 minutes then parked it . Cranked it about 6 hrs. later the light came back on and is still on. Any suggestion before I have it put on the computer?

I went through this.

The oxygen sensor was just a guess, but you can find the code by using the following instructions . Just remember the 82 diagnostic connector is located under the ashtray in the console:
http://www.thecorvettespecialist.com/faultcodes.htm

And here are the codes:

http://www.corvettedoctor.com/1982_Codes.htm

When you read the first link, you'll realize just how "high tech" code reading equipment for the 82 is:D - a single piece of wire. I my case it was the oxygen sensor, but you may be getting another code.

Hope this helps.
