I have been thinking about getting a chip. Basically I want the ASR to turn off when I start the car. I'm not all that interested in the extra HP. I have looked and found a JET chip in both Stage 1 and 2. Anybody have any inputon what's good? Thanks.

I didn't know that anyone made a chip that de-activated the ASR on start up.

Why do you want ASR off all the time?

Ok this may sound dumb but for the life of me I can't figure out what ASR is.

:confused :confused :confused

ASR = Acceleration Slip Regulation (?) --- otherwise known as "Traction Control."
Since 92, all Vettes have it standard and it defaults to "on" when you start the car.

Why not just disable the ASR unit? remove it all together?

The easy an inexpensive way to solve this problem is to just turn off the ASR by pushing the ASR button.

Tuna: ASR is irritating. I haven't found a good use for it on my previous Mustang GT or my Buick Riviera.
sothpaw: I can't see a reason to go removing that unit.
GeorgeT: Thanks.

Anybody else have any other input?

Is there no fuse for just the ASR?

This is a helpful, friendly forum, for the most part. If an innocent question is so offensive, as seemingly reflected by your asterisks and such, you will likely get NO help. OR, maybe I misread your comments.

Did you search, above, for your keywords?

... this wouldn't be something I would expect for the nice people on this board. If you have ignorant comments DON"T REPLY! All you do is **** people off!!
I am confused. Please, if someone is bothering you behind the scenes that we should know of, let us know. Things appeared to be normal, then your statement seemed to come out of nowhere. :confused

Why ASR? Saves tire wear, may save crumpled fenders and damaged pride.

The Corvette is a much more neutral handling car than a Mustang GT or a Riviera. The ASR will try to keep you from loosing control on parts of the road that have less than ideal traction. Dirt or gravel on the road in the middle of a turn come to mind. If you don't drive in the rain, snow or ice, you may still find that ASR is a good thing.

Again, I don't know of any computer chip that controls the ASR or allows the switching operation to be opposite of the factory 'always on' setting.
What chip are you looking at that reverses the ASR function?

I'm using a chip from FastChips.com. It does not reverse the ASR function. It didn't occur to me to ask if they could program it that way.

Later,

ECM code

I just looked at all the tables and switches in my CATS Tuner program for my ECM (then again its a L98 MAP) and didn't find anything for ASR. I don't have a definition file or an ECM file for your car or I'd check for you. One thing I thought of ... I'm not sure but your car may have a CCM that controls those functions and if it an OBD 2 then you maybe able access it with an Autotap scanner or one of the other scanner type accessories.
