Choke Light Keeps Coming On?...and other rough idle stuff

When I fire 'er up, the choke light comes on and stays on for a few seconds. Is this normal? I also noticed that when she has trouble starting, like needing 2 tries w/ 4pumps of the accel each, to start the choke light is always on.

Im going to try some carb cleaner causae she seems to be really guzzling gas like 9MPG or something sad. If that doesnt help then Im going to get the carb rebuilt ASAP. Iwas just hoping that adjusting the choke or greasing it in the meantime could help. I replaced the rear plugs but the front 4 were impossible. A friend is going to help out tomorrow w/ them. Replacing the rear 4 really smoothed it out but there are still some rough idle problems on cold start. Im not feeling any secondaries open either when I hammer down on her. Lots of little things that I need to take care of to bring her up to speed. And for Gods Sake will someone tell me where the Trunk/Hatch release is on an '80! Been searching High and low and no dice!

Carb rebuild next week but other than that any suggestions?

Thanks in advance guys.

Ps. I got snubbed my first three times on the wave but Ima keep wavin :w

Well maybe not a release somewhere but at least a key hole in the back. Ive looked high and low for a lock in the back but nothing.

There's no release or key. The glass is fixed, just like the windshield. If you want to put something in the back, you tilt the seat forward and put it in through the door.

Some 82's had an operable rear hatch. If your car definitely has an operable hatch (look for gas struts), then it was added by someone else, after the fact.

OK bad news. Today the Vette died on me after a little run on the highway. Apperantly wasnt getting any gas in to the carb for some reason. Fortunately it died right in front of a mechanic shop that gave me some help and a little diagn. So it needs new plug wires real bad and a little carb adjustment which I was planning on doing this weekend. After that she should be in tip top shape. This was his explanation for the fast idle and the rough starts.

Im almost 100% that the back window comes unlatched or i wa on something when he showed it to me. If Im wrong everyone can point and laugh later.
