I though I'd just pass this along for information: I thought I'd dress up the engine bay little by little and just recd. a chrome cover for the master cylinder and a chrome rebuild kit for my alternator. The kit has new front/rear covers, bearings and screws. I wanted to keep my 10SI alternator because I think its a really good design.
The chrome is really a dissappointment, poor finish, dull in areas, rough near corners. Looks like they plated over sand it's so rough. Really reaks of Chinese Junk. The edges of the covers are sharp, just begging the chrome to peal off! They gave me this nice cap with their name on it and an American Flag on the side...........the tag on the inside says, "Made In China".

What a letdown!

Sorry to hear about your experience. Summit is really good about replacing or refunding items. My experience with their customer service has been favorable.

US-made chrome motor dress-up pieces are about as rare as a US-made man's shirt. Heck ... even Levi Strauss announced they were going entirely offshore for jeans sewing. I'm sure few noticed ... but Western Union quietly ceased Telegram service recently ... now only money transfer. Don't look too close at your new ZZ4 block ... you might find a casting boss that reads "Hecho En Mexico". If bro' george succeeds w/ his latest port sale scheme ... that'll surely hasten end of our premier status among nations!

Sincerely,
Semi-reformed Change Agent

yeah, summit is really good about taking stuff back, even if it's been mounted already. They probably have the best return and refund policies of anyone in any industry. It's really amazing what they allow. They are definitely top rated for customer service. I'm forunate enough to only live about 45 minutes from their primary / HQ location.

Ok on Summit. I've heard good things about them too so I'm sure they'll take care of it. I just can't believe people can be proud of the stuff they sell sometimes.

Yeah Jack, I expect to hear the tequella bottles rattleing around the crank when I fire the thing up! I've already started to condition myself not to get upset!

Take care all.

Hello Andy,
Thanks for the link. Been around since 1952 so they must be doing something right! I'll look into them.
