I just bought my 85 in August and have finally got it running pretty good. I have seen mention in other threads about the ECM storing codes. How do I clear them?
Thanks for your help,
Bill

Take the car to an authorized dealer or spend many hours to locate the diagnostic connector of the car (if there is any in yours) and follow the procedure to clear the codes. You will have to short 2 pins on the connector with a paper clip, this sort of thing.

You can clear codes by disconnecting the battery for a short time, however, in doing that you loose the clock setting and radio pre-sets. A better way to do this is disconnect the ECM's battery feed line, a single weatherpac connector that branches off the positive batt. cable and runs over towards the brake booster. This is the service manual prescribed way to clear codes.

Thanks guys. This forum and ya'lls experience is awesome!

Thanks Hib,

I always hated loosing my presets, and all the stuff stored on the digital dash like range, MPG, and stuff. I will do that next time.
