Are there coil overs shocks that will allow me to retain the F51 variable suspension

I doubt there would be coil overs available. The suspension position arm attaches to the side of the shock body. It tells the computer the position of the suspension to adjust it according to what position, tour, sport, or perf, is selected.

I think you were right the first time - it's F45 (unless you have the newer F55). Either way, you'll have to do one of two things to switch to coil-overs:
1. Edit it out of the BCM using a Tech2
2. Install simulators (resistors)
