why and what causes the 2005 c6 service column lock to activate? has anyone ever found out from the engieers at GM, WHY? is there any info on line to get to a source for this information?

Several years ago I video taped A world class Corvette tech at one of our gatherings. He was addressing the issue directly. At that time, it was in reference to the C5, but I believe it will pertain to the C6 as well.

The 2005 C6 has the exact same column lock as the 2004 C5. WITH all of the same issues. A good battery that meets or exceeds the factory rating is the best way to avoid this problem.

Both replies are great information.
I will add though to have ANY battery properly load tested with a carbon pile load tester, new or old.
Extremely important, especially when dealing with a column lock issue.
