It's weeks like this, 80 degrees, that make you love a Vert in Calif.
Top down everyday........

Thanks a lot. Rub it in...

Partly Cloudy
hi 26°F - lo 13°F
:cry

it was so cold today when I washed my car the water froze instead of runnig off when I drove down the road ;LOL

Targa w/Z51! The most beautiful, quickest and best handling vehicle I've ever owned.
Really wanted a 6 spd, but I got such a sweet deal on mine and it was such a looker, I didn't want to lose it, so I bought it. I was waffling on it, but my WIFE talkedme into it, not that I needed much prodding.
Met a 70 year old man with a 2003 vert. w/auto and was telling him how much I wished I had a 6 spd. His reply? "If you can't have fun driving any kind of Corvette there's something wrong with you!"
NUff Said!!!

And there off.....

Well it definitely looks like the Z06 is in the lead. My question would be, don't you loose something with not having any kind of removable roof?

oh yea! the wind in your hair, the sun on your face, the open air feeling.

Coupe is best of both worlds.. hard top (solid or transparent, your choice) when you want it and open roof when ya don't.

No IMOP, just roll the windows down for a breezy ride.:L The extra power and handeling more than make up for no drop top or targa. Nothing like the thrill of a Zo6!:D

Wow - how did I miss this thread? I have got to start paying closer attention to you guys. Here's the deal. When it came time to purchase my Vette I really went through hell trying to choose between a Z51 optioned convertible or a Z06 (both were about the same price point). Here's the condensed thought process I used:

  • If it's a beautiful sunny day and I want to experience the fun of a Corvette top down drive - well I just can't do it with a Z06.
  • The extra horsepower of the Z06 would be a really cool thing to have. But given that only six guys in this country ever really drive any Corvette to the edge of it's performance envelope - what the heck I'll go with the Z51 optioned convertible.

I can't vote - my Vette is an FRC :D. However, we bought our fixed-roof-coupe because:

3 - The wife doesn't like the top off or down on cars.
2 - I don't like Vert tops down at highway speeds (old age I guess).

And the number 1 reason:

The price was right! ;LOL

If there had been a hard top convertible, that would have been #1; but since they didn't the only other choice was the Targa, and I do my own performance mods.

When the weather gets better, I wonder how many people will change their mind.

Based on the yellow vs. silver thread we have all enjoyed I thought we could do a similar thread on Verts, Targas, and performance package.

Joe,

Has the pole revealed anything that might have surprised you? For example, I found it interesting that the amount of convertibles with and without the Z51 option was just about equal. Or that the Z06 was more popular than a Z51 optioned convertible. What are your thoughts

BTW - I should do the same kind of analysis on the silver vs. yellow thread I started back in January. The thing is, I'm sure I'll get flamed when I lay out the obvious conclusions about people (in general) who drive cars in those colors.
