What frame mods would I need to install chrome bumpers on both ends ?
I have a '76 L-48 4 spd, planning on a BB later after I get a new (used) frame.

Thx for the replies

Scott

disregard pic in avatar, I'll change that later.

I don't know if anyone has ever done that....
I've never seen one

OK forget it, I won't attempt it. Just thought I'd ask what would have to be done. Thx
I'll keep it clean.

Next time you see a '72 or earlier, compare the shape of the steel bumpers to the shape of your car. Not even close, major surgery required. The frame would be the easy bit.

I've seen folks go from 68-72 fronts to 80-82s. Never seen anyone go the other way. ;shrug

Personally, I think it would be a lot of effort (and cost) that isn't for the faint of heart. Major surgery- and then paint to get it to look where it was before.

As an aside, I think people converted the notchbacks (68-77) to 80-82 fronts and rears because it was simpler. At the core, changing to the look of the 80-82 was a rear bumper and then adding in the fender corners/bumper/braces/etc for the front bumper. Also, you couldn't get the notchback and the aero aspects of the 80-82 from the factory due to the model years and configurations originally offered- so it was different if you had the notchback and the aero together.
