Help! Converting to HEI

Converting my 74 to HEI distributor. There is no wire coming from the distributor, just a plug attached to the cap. How do I run a wire from the ignition to the HEI, and what color wire do I attach it to? Thanks Ralph

You need to fabricate a 12-gauge wire, using whatever color you think is pretty, with a female spade on the end (The wire used on factory HEI was red, but if you can find one with polka dots, I'd do it..). Plug it into your distributor on the "BAT" terminal. Run the other end to your fusebox to an "IGN" terminal. Do not use the wire currently running to your stock coil, as this is a resistor wire - tape it off and tuck it in somewhere.
