If you were only using a harward store grade of paint remover, you might want to step up to an automotive/aircraft grade paint remover such as TalStrip. Charles

where am i gonna find it?

do i need to go to painters supply for the good stripper? i think i have bix or something like that....thanks for the tip.:beer

Most of your automotive paint stores for sure and some of the better automotive parts houses will carry it or an equivilent paint stripper. Be sure to get cha some good chemical gloves. Charles

Sorry but all of us 73 owners are a bit out of luck on this one. That tank yellows over the years and all of the chems in the world will not get it to looking new. You may be able to get the black paint off of it but it will then be a dingy yellow. And there is not a correct 73 expanson tank in reproduction. The 73 tank is a one year only piece as there is a bump in the fender well behind the tank and the tank is molded to fit over that bump. 74 and later do not have the bump in the fender well and their tanks are molded smooth on the rear. If you use one of the 74 and later tanks it will not lay right.

Only hope is to find a very good used one. Good luck.
