Correct amount of Trans Fluid

Hey everyone,

Does anyone know approximately how much transmission fluid needs to be added to a 700R4 if you have removed the pan and replaced the filter? My service manual says 10 quarts if you're flushing the system, but that includes the torque converter, cooling lines, etc.

It should be in the "Maintenance" or "Specifications" section in your owner's manual - there should be one spec for a full system fill, and a lesser one for the filter change.

Somewhere around 4-5 Qts, as I recall. After 4 start checking the dipstick.

The owner's manual says to see the separate maintenence folder (which I don't have). The shop manual just says to add as much as it takes to get to the full line.

I put in 3 quarts and it is at the cold full mark. I did start it and run through the gears a few times.

If anyone still has that maintenance folder I would really appreciate it if they could take a look for me.

Service manual says 10 pt for pan removal, 23 pt for pan & torque converter.
