Time to put the belts on the engine and I know I found it someone where...may be on the old L81 Registery...but there was a table that showed all the belts and their lengths. Now I cannot find it.

And also...what is the deal with the alternator adjustment bracket or arm? My car has this long one coming from the top water pump mounting bolt...shares it with the AIR pump. But on other cars I have seen a much shorter arm / bracket that bolts to the front of the head. Why the difference?

Thanks,

Correct belt sizes found

I knew I had seen a table of the correct belt lengths somewhere......it is in the 1981 Corvette Owner's Manual....who would have thought!!!!!

Lanny,

It's amazing what's in those manuals, isn't it? :L As for the alt adjusting arm, I don't know why yours is like that. My adj. arm is mounted to the inboard bolt that holds the alt mount to the head. The AIR adjusting arm bolts to the top water pump bolt. My wife bought this car new and it has never been apart so I know it's right. It could be that someone had a cracked one and replaced it with an older one that was laying around. Those long ones were commom on 50s and 60s engines. Is your alt mount still the original cast aluminum part?

Tom,
Yes the alternator mount is the original aluminum cast piece. You are probably correct about the adjusting arm...may be I can find one somewhere...have to start looking.

Thanks,
Lanny
