Question has anybody seen this I have a 97 with stock rims, I just pulled off the rims to replace them with new chrome rims, come to find the rear wheel rims had two small cracks on the back. Now my friend has a 98 that he replaced the stock rims on a few months ago and when they came off they were cracked in the back in the same areas. I know I don't drive over any hard bumps or potholes, just flat open road mostly, has anyone else experienced this cracking with their stock rims? They hold air they are just cracked.
Thanks

Yes, I've never had this issue but I've read about lots of people that have experienced the cracked rims. It doesn't seem to matter if you have the 97-99 style or the thin spokes.

Seems I've read more with regards to the thin spokes, but it would not surprise me that the wagon wheels crack too.

Sounds like a major safety issue. did GM ever address this problem.

Can you use tubes? Say, you are changing the tires and notice a hairline crack but never had any issues.

I had a real tough to solve issue with something like this a looooooooooooog time ago with a Corvair with the real Kelsey-Hayse wire wheels. They had to use a "boot" ... a cut down tire .... as a buffer as well as tubes.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ?????

This is coming closer to home soooooooo, on the tube issue, :ohnoes

I just bought some three piece rims and noted that they use a silicon sealant bead around the inside where "all of the funny screws go" ...

Can I run tubes along with my run-flats? Before you flame me lemme splain ..

I had a long ride and a long wait to pick these rims up today .... in addition to being calorie starved (I can't eat when problems start to pop up).

Hello 65-to-00, I have plenty of experience with three piece wheels, and I can help you with advice. The problem is that I don't understand the question? How can I help?

Twice now, both times at the thin end of the spoke where it joins the outer wheel.

VERY disappointing. Both times with GM wheels.
