Well here I am with Toms01(and wife Rosemary), C5Y2K, and Old Yeller are now waiting for the Monsoon rain to pass before we head to the Fire Fly Grill for dinner. :L

But earlier, we were at the reception that Mid America hosted for us. Special thanks go out to Mike Yeger And his assistant Lori from Mid America Motor Works for their hospitality and awesome reception. With deli party entrees and your choice of refreshments we had a great time among all their Corvette and VW items in the store

Then we drove back to the hotel, and now we're waiting for the rain to stop. And before we are acused of not driving the Vettes in the rain, we're trying to be responsible since we're planning for some margaritas and other refreshments, and it is really no further than a 1/8 To a 1/10 of a mile or so. :) :beer

Well, it was a long day. After dinner, I began taking some pictures in the dark of the Vettes at the hotel's parking lot. After few minutes, Yoda joined me and before too long, some of the folks also came out to the parking lot to talk our favorite subject. :D

Our beloved Evolution1980 returned from dinner, and on his way to the parking lot, managed to whip-up a blender-full of Mudslides (heavy on the slide ;LOL:beer What a guy! Thanks Andre!

After 10 PM or so, the group began to disipate, and I just left two cats (Rob and Mike Terry) at the parking lot. Sooner or later, a two-day long trip catches up with you whether you are ready or not.

So I leave you now until my next update.

Hopefully pictures will be coming. I was trying to take pictures as our "Un-official" photog (rascalrascal) was able to make the trip this year. I'm afraid that I am failing miserably. Thank goodness that MAM's official photog is covering everything and will give us access to all pictures.

Our room hasn't been able to get internet access, so finally tonight I came over to the main building and logged on. I should have downloaded the pictures I had, but I didn't.

Lots of neat stuff going on. Better hit the sack, as tomorrow proves to be another busy day....and I'm not as young as I used to be.

Hope everyone has a blast! Could not make it this year! Are any of you on facebook?
Have fun and post up those pictures!!!

Late posting of day 1 activities (blame it on Blender Wars and General Andre :chuckle:L ).

I woke up yesterday, and I had to tend to Gail which was in need of a good cleaning to remove all the road grime from the trip to CF.

Bud's wife (Nancy) had remained behind while many of the folks headed to MAM for some f the tech tours or seminars schedule for the day, and wwhen Gail was ready, so then Nancy and I went to MAM as well.

It was time finally to head to the poolside chat at Mike Yeager's home, and what a beautiful home it is! I saw the famous Chevrolet Chevron shaped pool, and we even met Mike's wife Lauree who was such a pleasent, caring, and attentive person to meet and greet us so graciously at their home. Thanks!!

I later joined the Caravan to the winery and we had a great time there sampling their wines and we even got a tour of their modest facilities. The location was also great and quiet except for the occasional freight train passing through about an 1/8 of mile from there (But heck, I love trains ;) ).

We then proceeded back to the hotel after dispersing at MAM and we began the BBQ celebrations promptly after the usual dusk's downpour of rain :L

We had a great time as a group. I finally headed to bed at 1 am. And now ready to begin the day. :)

Hope you guys are having a great time at MAM/CAC fest. I did not make the run from ChiTown because it's thunderstorms up here and looks like down there too. My 1966 coupe is NOT water tight so I could not make the trip. Post some pictures if you can and have a good(safe) time.

Well folks pictures will be coming. My connection is weak at best here at the motel, so when I get to a more reliable connection I'll get some pictures up. Today has been warm and humid (spell that HOT for someone used to 20-30% humidity). But luckily I've been inside most of the day, as while here, I lightened my wallet by a bit, separate thread to come. :D

Tonight we are having our awards and banquet. I think that we are going to have a great time.

Again, I promise to post pictures later.

Day 2 was a fun and awesome day as well.

In the morning our membership went to MAM to show off their Vettes for the car show voting public. Everyone prepped their cars and shined the good looks as best they could to to earn the coveted People's Choice and Ladies' Choice Vette.

Many seminars also took place today. I mainly spent some real time in the MAM store purchasing a window regulator spring, a K & N filter, an GM rear Y pipe hanger, and a tach filter. I love how I was able to save on shipping. :)

I also attended a seminar on C3 front and rear suspension. Kenny Yeager presented, and we learnEd important tips on planning, safety, tooling, and parts replacements. Some of the folks got their Vette troubleshot by Paul (aka C4C5 Specialist). Awesome work Paul!

But tonight was one of the main events -the banquet dinner and car show winner's announcement. Nothwidstanding the dusk showers again, we got a tour of MAM's corporate's offices. Mike Yeager showed us their art department in which they work the catalogs, and he also shared with us interesting bits about the different aspects of their commercial operations. We later proceeded to sit down and eat.

The food was great!!! Mike and Lauree hosted agains fed us some delicious food, and we all had a great time eating and chatting and eating :L
I cannot post my pictures, for I do not have a laptop for uploading them, but I will share them with you as soon as I get back home.

Please help me congratulate Andre for winning the People's Choice Award, and John Growcock for winning special recognition by Mike Yeager for how well his 1982 Vette looks with a little over 100,000 miles in the odometer. Toms01 also won the coveted Road Warrior Award for persevering against all odds i. Maing the trip. And lastly, Rob was recognized for his dedication to CAC in the last 10 years. Well deserved, Rob!

My thanks go out to Mike Yeager, his wife Lauree, his assistant Lori, Deb, Alexis, and the many folks who made sure that this event went without a hitch. Thanks again! :wave

Even on Sunday the MAM facilities are open to host us in their grounds. Wow! The level of attention from these folks never ceases to amaze me.

PM back at ya Stew ;) Pictures eh... I'll get to that :o

First I want to add my accolades to Mid America Motor Works...

Nanc and I want to second all that has been said about the hospitality and commitment to making the Corvette Action Center CruiseFest 2010 a success. Mike & Laure Yager, and the entire staff at MAM welcomed CruiseFest participants like old friends.

A special thank you goes to a dynamo named Lori. Lori coordinates events at MAM. Lori made CruiseFest 2010! Her never ending optimism and enthusiastic positive lining in every cloud made for a great experience at CruiseFest this year. Lori :thumbs

You’ve heard the phrase that some have Corvette pulsing through their blood. I met another super Corvette Enthusiast, Mike Yager is another such person. In all my years in this hobby, I’ve met many folks that have done more things for our hobby than most every know about. Mike Yager is one of those unsung Corvette Enthusiast that EVERY Corvette owner needs to meet. I can’t say enough about the man behind MAM and the Passion that still burns for our Hobby. Mike & Laure Yager :thumbs

One of our members ONLY has Corvette corsing through his veins and graces almost all our CruiseFest with his talent and knowledge of our hobby. A special, yep another Special Thank, sorry folks but these people are what make our hobby special to the ole Yoda... and C4C5 corvette specialist Paul K is one of those that belong in the Hobbies Hall of Fame for what they bring to us the owners and users of our Hobby. The hand shakes are real and the passions is shared :thumbs Thanks Paul

Photo’s… ah, well, hmm y’all are going to have to lean on those that remembered their camera’s :eek

I wish I could download this weekend sites, sounds and flavor that still play in my mind. Even if I had remembered our camera there is no way I could capture the true color and flavor of CruiseFest 2010 hosted by MAM Effingham, IL.

Well its raining again, Abby is getting another car wash :eyerole We leave in the morning heading West next stop is Prairie Band Casino in Mayetta, KS then on up through Nebraska, Colorado then back home next week sometime.

Thank you to everyone that made CruiseFest 2010, and to those that made it to CruiseFest 2010 …. It was great seeing old friends and making new ones.

Bud

Longspur

If there was ever a Cruise Fest worth attending as far as minimal cost and entertainment value, then this was it. Tipically, we have had each member bankroll the planned activities which he or she would like to attend. For example, visiting a museum. The entrance cost is collected from the CAC member. In this year's function, Mike Yeager rolled out the red carpet for us, and we had a great time. I have never had the opportunity to be greated by a CEO of a company so graciously and humbly like the reception that he prepared for us on Thursday and the chat by the pool on Friday, and the banquette on Saturday. Perhaps other CEO's do that as well, but I am betting that it would be a delegated activity in which they would not participate. I am very impressed and grateful for his attention to our CAC group.

So in this year's Cruise Fest, I only paid for the gas, hotel rooms, and some of the beer. That's it!

I do not have the totals in cars, but perhaps there were 20 Vettes or so, but perhaps more.

I am certainly requesting that the CAC leadership consider holding the next one at Effingham again. :yes
