I am interested in getting a little gifferent with the interior of my 78 silver Ann. The oyster color just doesn't do it for me. I Plan on changing out the stock seats for some racing seats (black with a grey/black tweed insert in the center back and butt of the seat). I also want a black carpet.

I would like to see some pictures of custom interiors in anyone has them.

Also how hard is it to change the color of the plastic interior moldings? I have been told you can paint them, but does this look corny or is it the propper way to change the trim color.

And has anyone done any brushed aluminum gauge clustes or center consoles?

And one more thing, Will other years interiors fit in my 78 or am I stuck with only my interior design(i.e. could I put a 74 interior in my 78 or did they change the way it mounted?) I mean the dash and center console not the back cab trim pieces.

I used dye from one of the Corvette suppliers to change some of my interior panels from brown to black and I used a burl wood laminate which I got from Ebay it goes on like a decal on a model and has held up well considering I drive the car daily march-November

Don't know if this answers your question

Thanks Bossvette that answers one of my questions. When you say dye, does this mean you actually dye the plastic or is it more like a paint? and how does it look in person?

Does it give a professional look?

Tom

P.s. I would still like to see some more pics of everyones interiors, custom por otherwise. I need ideas so i can make a decision.

What about sopme brushed aluminum on the gauge cluster and center console that might look sweet. Thanks

You might look into replacing the GM gages with aftermarket ones. They can be installed into your center gage cluster really easily. No cutting or grinding so you could return to the originals at any time. There are a lot oc cool aftermarket gages from simple chrome to carbon fiber, white face to l.e.d.

Most of the Corvette parts houses sell "interior Dye" in either spray cans or brush on I replaced my "amp" meter with an aftermarket Volt meter, most people never notice.
My car does not enter "judged Shows" just local cruise-ins it is modified to suit me and nobody else.
If you search the archives there was a post some time ago about aftermarket radios/stereos in C-3s that had a link to a site that sells bezels to install modern radios. You could use one of them and add aftermarket guages quite easily.

the aftermarket bezels would be at vettespecialties.com ..i dont know if they fit a 78 though...

Tom.....

Look in the member's area gallery for my car.
I changed the the complete interior from Cinnabar to Black.
I used the spray dye they sell at Pep Brothers and AutoZone.
It's only $4.99 a can. It looks great.

The Stainless Steel inserts I got from here, in the vendor section.
AAA Exotic Woods in New Jersey.

You can find more info on a thread I started way back titled:
Pictures of my Vette.

Corvette Craig, thanks for the name of the dealers I am pretty sure that is what I'm looking for. I tried to find your car pics in the member gallery but could not seem to find them. And also, I tried to look at the pics in your previous post. It seems that the links have been changed and theyt go to the wrong picture.

I would still love to see your interior, if you have another way for me to see them.

Tom

Pictures..........

Here's a few pictures......

Craig
what are the seats from and how comfortable are they for the long haul.
Looks great
Craig sr.

BossVette.....

The seats are the standard Corvette Seats from 78 to 82.
I got the covers from a Tampa Bay company:

www.anthonysupholstrey.com

They came with the embroidery.
If I remember right, the covers cost less than $150.00 for imit. leather.

Heres the one Ive found>>>>http://wooddashman.com/jsorderA.html

THats for the entire brushed aluminum set up, speedo and gauge cluster w/ center console.

I found another one on ebay awhile back and Im looking for it again.

Found it>>>>http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33705&item=2449167873

Thats for the whole shebang! Ive seen it here before for only $75 duckets though.

Very into that brushed aluminum look! Plus it adds 25HP! Put some asian letter decals and thats a total 50HP boost! ;LOL

Thanks Craig, that is what I was looking for. I really like the brushed aluminum. I think it's a really good way to give a black on black interior some nice contrast. I got a catalog and a few samples in the mail.

Ding Ding Ding, we have a winner. Thank you very much jay that is what I needed to see. That is almost the exact interior I want.

A couple of questions:

Where did you get those dash pieces from?

Did you make them, and if so could you give me a little how to on it? I think i can make almost anything if I need to.

Also what model are those seats?

Don't Worry I dont want to copy you, But I really like the look you've got and I'd like to take a few design Q's

Great looking ride

Thanks for the kind words. The cauge cluster panel is a simple polished plate of aluminum, so is the center console bit. They very the easy ones to make, just use the old plastic pieces as a template and use 1mm sheet aluminum to cut out your own pieces. Ones you've got the aluminum pieces, you can design how you'd like to install your new cauges.

The speedo/Tach piece is made out of billet aluminum, I used CAD to design the thing and used my friends shop to fabricate it.

GroovyJay....

All I can say is, WOW!!!!!
VERY COOL!!!:BOW :_rock :beer
