I have a 92 Vette. Do you have to cut the factory dash face plate to get the radio to fit? I have not cut it yet. Radio is a Kenwood.

Depends on the radio. I had to trim mine a slight bit because the face plate rotated. I would moutn the radio and trim plate and test it out before putting everything back together

Radio Install

I have already looked at mine and the radio looks wider than the dash trim opening.

Did you look at the Metra install kit?
I used one on mine, and my Pioneer (Premier) DEH-840MP fit OK.

I had to cut the heck out of the plastic behind the radio - the aftermarket was too deep compared to stock - but side-to-side fit like a charm, and I now have a new cubby hole for CD cases. :gap

I don't remember the exact part number, but it's the one with a pocket underneath the headunit. No trimming of any visible plastic required at all.

Metra 99-3051 for the 90-96

I ended up cuting the back out Like Keith, but used a Junk Bose radio from a 90-96 and made my own bracket.

My Kenwood sticks out a little past the radio cage. This is making it impossible to reattach dash trim. Either the radio has to go back futher or the dash trim has to be cut to fit around the radio. Dash trim opening is smaller than the width of the radio. Now the question is ......... Would you recommend cutting the dash trim and hope I can find another one if I wanted to put it back stock?..........or............Forget about going back stock and cut it anyway? I have also looked at the kit you are talking about but it had the same problem.

Buy a new one from, Scklers, Mid America, or Corvette America.

cut THAT one and keep the Stock one

I have looked in Mid America but can't find another trim piece. I don't think I saw one in Ecklers either. I'll keep trying to find one so I won't have to cut the original.

I bought one for a 92-93 from Corvette America..

That was just 2 months ago too.

I found a trim piece at Corvette Central. Cost is $34.00
