Dash Dims Right After The Key Is Turned On

The Dash On My 1989 Comes On Bright When You First Turn The Key And Then In A Few Seconds Will Go Dim Making It Hard To See In The Day Time . Any Suggestions ??????? Thanks In Advance

Sounds like a problem with the light sensor on the left side of the dash (at least that's where mine is). Is something blocking it, perhaps? Or on the simple side, is the brightness turned down?

there is nothing obstructing the sensor
how do you adjust the the brightness for the daytime ?

Twist the headlight dimmer switch.

At the worst you need a new sensor in the dash radio shack carries them.

Check the obvious first...

Try shining a light directly on the light sensor. This is after you make sure there's nothing blocking it, or if the lens covering it isn't painted over or obscured in any way. If it still dims, you'll need the sensor replaced in the cluster. If you're the least bit unsure, or cannot solder properly, DO NOT attempt to repair it yourself. You'll end up damaging the circuit board and then you'll need to cough up some big bucks to get out that jam.

Send it out instead...you'll be money ahead.
